Sacramento, CA - This week the economic and environmental review process of the pending Klamath Restoration Agreements begin with a series of public scoping meetings in the Klamath Basin.
 

It's that time of year when the flowers bloom, the birds sing and California rivers are ripped apart with suction dredges!

 

 
Yreka, CA -- In midst of a low water year that plagues farms and fish, an unlikely coalition of Siskiyou County constituents are urging Supervisors to sign-on to a pair of connected agreements that would provide more certainty for agriculture and restore fish habitat.
 
Members of the coalition that crafted agreements about the future of the Klamath River gathered in Salem, Ore., Thursday to sign the Klamath Basin Restoration Agreement and Klamath Hyower Settlement Agreement.
 

CalTrout is pleased to announce the release of "SOS: California's Native Fish Crisis" by Dr. Peter Moyle, Dr. Joshua Israel and Sabra Purdy.

This CalTrout-commissioned report analyzes the state of all 32 native California salmonid species -- from coastal cuthroat to golden trout.

Mountain meadows function as natural sponges that store water and slowly release it into groundwater aquifers and streams.  As these habitats decline stream banks lose stability, runoff occurs more quickly, erosion accelerates stream temperatures war and water tables decline.

 
For the first time ever – there is a viable, legally binding agreement to restore and protect the ecosystem, cultures, and local economies of the Klamath Basin, said supporters of two historic agreements that settle long-standing differences in the area.
