FEDERAL GOVERNMENT SITES

Federal Energy Regulatory Commission: The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission is an independent regulatory agency within the Department of Energy that regulates the transmission and sale for resale of natural gas in interstate commerce; regulates the transmission of oil by pipeline in interstate commerce; regulates the transmission and wholesale sales of electricity in interstate commerce; licenses and inspects private, municipal and state hydroelectric projects; oversees related environmental matters and administers accounting and financial reporting regulations and conducts of jurisdictional companies.

US Dept of Interior: The mission of the Department of the Interior is to protect and provide access to our nation's natural and cultural heritage and honor our trust responsibilities to Indian tribes.

Bureau of Land Management: Administers over 272 million acres -- about 48% -- of federally-owned lands, most of which are located in the western states.

Reclamation Bureau: The Bureau of Reclamation manages, develops and protects water and related resources in an environmentally sound manner, in the interests of the American public.

US Forest Service: Administers National Forests and National Grasslands and manages their resources.

National Marine Fishers Service: The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) or "NOAA Fisheries" is part of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). NMFS administers NOAA's programs which support the domestic and international conservation and management of living marine resources. NMFS provides services and products to support domestic and international fisheries management operations, fisheries development, trade and industry assistance activities, enforcement, protected species and habitat conservation operations, and the scientific and technical aspects of NOAA's marine fisheries program.

US Fish and Wildlife Service: The Service is the lead federal agency for conservation of migratory birds, threatened and endangered species, certain marine mammals and fish.

National Park Service: The National Park Service preserves, unimpaired, the natural and cultural resources and values of the national park system for the enjoyment, education and inspiration of this and future generations.
